Social-emotional Learning (SEL)
Through monthly themes and lessons facilitated by the school coordinator, SEL time is integrated into every class's schedule, fostering self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and positive interactions in both personal and academic contexts.

Legacy Tiles
Where Aspirations Meet Artistry
The Legacy Tile is a special project for our 8th graders. They design a ceiling tile that captures their identity and future aspirations. Once completed, these tiles remain in our school as a lasting tribute. This year's theme was a comic-style autobiography.
From Classroom
to Center Stage
Mr. LaLone is spearheading our drama department, bringing the art of theater to Grissom. Under his guidance, we've already showcased several performances. It's evident our students possess a natural affinity for the stage; they confidently take center stage and are crafting their own original skits

Our students have the opportunity to compete in art competitions and showcase their talents and creativity through performances, and exhibitions throughout the school year. At Grissom we celebrate their artistic journey every step of the way.

Differentiation in Small Group Instruction

Pre-K Programing
Our Pre-K program effectively prepares students for kindergarten, with a high retention rate of pre-K students transitioning into Grissom Elementary School.
Diverse Learners
DL teachers and gen. Ed. Teachers work closely together, ensuring that DL students are integrated into the general education setting while receiving the necessary support.
Support for IEP & 504 Plans
We offer support for students with learning disabilities, including resources for parents regarding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans.
Physical Fitness
At Grissom Elementary, our outdoor sports facility highlights our commitment to physical fitness, enhancing the whole child's physical, mental, and emotional development.

Grissom Support
Recognizing the diverse needs of our students, we ensure they have access to necessities like food, clothing and supplies. But our commitment doesn't stop at the school doors. We extend our support to families, offering them valuable resources tailored to their needs, such as mental healthcare, financial literacy, home safety, CPR training and training sessions on various topics.

Communication is Key
We provide all our communications in both English and Spanish to accommodate parents who only speak Spanish. This includes our monthly parent newsletter, which highlights key events and dates. Recognizing that some family members aren't tech-savvy, we also distribute flyers for essential announcements, ensuring everyone stays informed.
